Apples, Oranges and Other 'Fruits' :O)

September 28, 2006 / by greatmartin

Thanks to all for the empathy and sympathy for my ear ache--it is a little better now with just a twinge of hurting now and then.

People 'disappear' from blogster and I often wonder why--some will tell that they are leaving for awhile--others just stop blogging without any explanation and don't even answer e-mail--I often feel a little 'down' when this happens especially when I have gotten involved with them--for instance, 'thefatman' who was battling a monstrous weight problem and that I had invested time with--then their are those that I really liked reading their blogs (Tammyblue, where are you?) and those who seem to really be having a hard time and ask for reactions then just stop posting--I know there are many reasons for stopping but I promise if I plan to stop I will tell everyone--and not too many better cheer :o)--as I think it is the 'right' thing to do.

Talking about blogster why do I (and others--I won't name names! You know who you are! :o) ) feel a compulsion to comment on every blog I read and to answer those comments--don't get me wrong--I love to do it and I love to read the comments as it is one way of knowing that you are being read--why do I feel a bit of guilt if I don't?? :o)

Okay, you know about millionaires but I thought I would introduce you to a hundred-aire---ME!!! I won $400 in the Play 4 Lottery yesterday (if I stop to think of how much I spent to 'win' that money I would probably get sick :o)
In any case I have the airfare ,I think, to get up to see the opening of ACL next week--now all I need to do is win enough for the 'extras' like a hotel, food, theatre tickets, etc. I have 7 days to do it! :o(

Instead of having an evening I know I won't ever forget--the opening night of the revival of A Chorus Line on Broadway--I will be at the Hard Rock casino showroom seeing a concert by the O'Jays and the Commodores--just won't be the same!

Allen, Gino and I just got tickets for the Ft. Lauderdale Gay Men's Chorus salute to Judy Garland (ain't that quaint? NOT!) the last week in October--they are an excellent group and am looking forward to it--can you ever get tired of hearing "Over The Rainbow", "The Man That Got Away", "Born In A trunk", etc.?

Planning to see "The Illusionist" (Why do I think of AJ and Dale when I write that title???) with Larry--will, of course, write a review.

Martin,do you think that the bloggers get bored with this at time,or just running out of things to say,Jim Bailey is coming to Concord, saw him once and was not too thrill but surprise that he's still around.
Doing Judy Garland and surely B.Streisand, not sure of going to see this, but maybe if someone twist my arm will go.
Let you know about the review her in Concord,NH.
ITake care of that ear, very vital,as I went through this in the service.
[THUMBUP][THUMBUP][THUMBUP]I will let you know if I am signing off.
    Good night/Good luck/wasn't that a terrible movie,thought that it was a real bore.But Straham was good.[THUMBUP][THUMBUP][TONGUE][ROLLEYES][HEART]

I saw Bailey in Las Vegas in 1975--it was a night he was doing Judy and Liza joined him on stage! He was also here a couple of times--once playing Bette Davis in a play--another time he aws to do a week of performances alternating every night doing Streisand, Peggy Lee and Judy--he got 'sick' the second night (lack of ticket sales?)
Goodnight and Good luck wasn't that bad--it was just that we lived through the whole thing and knew too much about it.

I also feel the "compulsion to comment on every blog I read and to answer those comments", I dont know what it is and yes.. i feel quilty too when i dont comment, but its just not possible for me to comment every peace i read. Agree with Alfredo that sometimes its hard to find a subject. You dont have that problem Martin i know. I also dont want my list too long, cause I want to read all my budies write.

I keep a list of 'future blogs'--subjects that come up from reading, seeing and observing--also, as a stand by I have my chocolate quips![LOL]
  • rroomer said 1 years ago
Dont know why but must think of a "South Park" - song about chocolate....

Okay, I think that the reason we comment is because we have something to say!!!!!! I think "The Illusionist" looks like a very interesting film. Was never really much into Judy Garlan (my cousin loves her) more into Barbara Streisand. I grew up singing "Cry me a River." Also, you are a fellow Floridian, got to have perks for that!!![THUMBUP]
  • greatmartin said 1 years ago
Because I am gay it is the law that I love Garland, Midler, Streisand, Cher, Ross, etal. [LOL][LOL]
It was Julie London who made "Cry Me A River" a big hit originally.[THUMBUP]
  • ladyspain said 1 years ago
I didn't know it was a law[LOL] I remember my first Streisand Album, before Funny Girl (the Broadway version) and it was just this wonderful group of songs. "Cry me a River" was one of them and I loved the way she sang it.[SMILE]

I have only recently joined blogster. I like the comment section. You can actually get to know people a bit by reading what they post to your area and going to theirs and reading what they write and commenting on it. I think its a great thing. I also blog at a couple of other places, especially about my tatting, because I was looking for a place where I could play a little and post pix in a gallery format. This seems to be the place!

I only feel compelled to comment when it will expose my superior wit and intellect to the masses[TONGUE]

Or it could mean I am trolling for comments trying to get my numbers up[ROLLEYES]

Accidently put a comment for you under AJ's comment--I'm allowed one mistake a year--that was it--read the comment.[SMILE]

In the northern climes, summer is 'outside' time, p.c. is relegated to 'last'. But writing (good or bad) is addictive and winter is just about here, time to cacoon with my favorite site. [WINK]

As fer the comment compulsion, I don't always comment on things. Usually it's because I have nothing to add to the conversation. I do feel bad sometimes when I haven't left a comment on someones blog for a long time so I just pop out: "I've been reading you, just have nothing to add!"[COOL]
