Tom Cruise Wants David Beckham
Let's say you are a completely heterosexual man, and you could afford to buy any sports team in the world for the last three decades and just have yet to do so. Now let's say that just because David Beckham may be the sexiest male sports star of all time, that does not mean that you would suddenly want to buy the sports team that he was on solely because he is hot, if you were a heterosexual man. That being said, Tom Cruise has reportedly launched an $80 million takeover bid to buy the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team.
The husband of actress Katie Holmes has recently announced that he is a huge soccer fan, and since his friend David Beckham has signed a deal with the Galaxy, the Cruises have been present to watch him play his last season with his current team Real Madrid.
They joined Beckham's wife, former Spice Girl Victoria "Posh" Adams, this week to witness the Spanish team win the league title, and created a paparazzi frenzy.
Beckham, the former English football captain, will be leaving Real Madrid at the end of the Spanish season for a five-year deal with the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team worth about $1 million a week, the largest paycheck in the world of sports
Beckham's skill and popularity are recognized by the Galaxy who hope that his addition will improve interest in Major League Soccer. Adding Cruise to the mix would greatly increase media attention, but there is no guaranteeing that it would make people more interested in the game.
As of now, there are only speculations of the takeover, but who wouldn't want to be David Beckham's boss? Soccer insiders do not predict that his presence will create the impact hoped for the team, but it will definitely add to the eye candy factor.
