Another blogger, nobullsomething or other, left a few comments on my blog about "Serving/served Proudly":
"I'm willing to bet you are infinitely more interested in Paris Hilton than I am" (Obviously he hasn't read any of my comments regarding that waste of life on other blogs. Ummmm---do you think he is stereotyping??)
"Naturally I never talked about my sexual experiences to them and they never bothered me with theirs." (I heard more talk about sex in the barracks and out in the field when I was in the marines more than any other time in my life! Maybe he just didn't have any sexual experiences to talk about?)
"One reason straights resent your SHOVING your lifestyle (my emphasis) in our faces--we don't care."
According to the Webster's New World dictionary 'lifestyle' is defined as:
"An individual's whole way of living." I assume that means more then just sex and who we love.
Just by reading the blogs of Dale (panthurdreams), Chris (thepirate in the city), AJ (lunarhunk), Alfredo (just to name 4)--you (he) would see that we all live DIFFERENT lifestyles. So I wonder what he means by 'gay lifestyle'?
And I love that "shoving' statement. For 70 years I have had the straight lifestyle shoved in my face. From "Fibber McGee & Molly" (radio) to "I Love Lucy" (TV) to the escapades of Liz Taylor & Richard Burton (papers and magazines) to politicians showing off their wives and children, to 'first ladies' to which girl are you asking to the prom (high school) to having baby pictures and being told how smart their kids are to the 50%+ divorce rate, to company parties where the better half had to be a member of the opposite sex, to being outnumbered 90-10, to not having basic rights that straights have--and on and on I have had to live with the 'straight lifestyle shoved' in my face. I would, politely, acknowledge their lifestyle and the right for them to live the life they are living. I didn't/wouldn't put them down for being nongay and I expect the same courtesy.
As I wrote in a comment to him: "A bigot is a bigot. I bet you wouldn't say you were homophobic. I bet you also say 'some of my best friends are gay."
The one right we both have is to turn away from something we find 'distasteful'--I don't have to read about nongay marriages, babies, murderers, couplings, Ozzie and Sharon Ozbourne (a fine example of the nongay lifestyle-) or anything else related to that world nor would I complain that they are SHOVING their lifestyle in my face and I, certainly, wouldn't put them down for living the way they do. (Except, in a way, I am doing that now. LOL)
Just as I can avoid reading/hearing/seeing anything about Hilton so can bull do the same regarding gay people.
But I am curious--and it is never too late for me to learn--what the hell is a 'gay lifestyle'?????????????
Just a few more questions: Do I eat gay food? Do I sleep in a gay bed? Are my birds gay? Do I wear gay clothing? Is this a gay computer? Is that what is meant by a gay lifestyle??

I wish EVERYONE would answer his comments--maybe he can still be educated![THUMBUP]
I just wish everyone would respond to his comments so he can see what a bigot he is![THUMBUP]
To start with I didn't invent the term and I only use it for conversational purposes... I made the mistake of thinking we were conversing toward understanding. Instead you just got cranky.
I don't give a flying crap about who you diddle with, how you dress, or any other behavior that might set you apart from straights. What I don't like, and I'm sure I speak for many of us "straights" (you don't think straights get labeled?"), is the marches, parades and bumper stickers et. al. that gays display as an accusation against straights for being bigots. You scream loud and proud and then demand we shut up and not defend ourselves. That ain't happening with me.
You may be 70 but you act like a spoiled 4 year old. Go take a nap.
By the way we don't march (nor do I thinki The Irish do or any other group) to accuse 'straights' or any other group of being bigots. And do you really expect any sympathy because you are straight when you outnumber gays 9-1 and have 1001 more rights than gays do?
'we were conversing toward understanding'--how? By stereotyping gays? Putting them(us) down--by calling me an old dog and then a 4 year old? That is really a mature debate to reach an understanding--but then a bigot is a bigot.
And when did I even suggest you 'not defend' yourself or to shut up? Ah, but I will now.
I would suggest 1) you refrain form reading my blogs--or any other gay person blogs 2) and get facts, use terms you know if you want to reach an understanding.
Excuse me while I go back to my 'gay lifestyle'--as soon as you tell me what that is!!![LOL][LOL]
On a side note, I am always teasing Ray about keeping a wife on the side!
AJ
But tell you what; I will make the effort to define "gay life style" the only way I know how - according to its common usage.
And when you point the finger of bigotry at me it IS an attempt to shut me up.
Am I reading it wrong or are you putting gays on the same level as dogs??? I do hope you know that there is homosexuality in the animal kingdom.
No, I NEVER attempt to shut up a bigot--I like to hear/watch them hang themselves![THUMBUP]
