Don't Hate Me Because I Am Retired!

September 11, 2006 / by greatmartin

Another fine day in my world of retirement. Started off with feeding the birds, changing their water, having my morning (my morning starts at 11 AM) green tea, reading the paper, smoking a cigarette, then reading and answering my e-mail.

Around 1 PM I went down to the pool, swam a little, read a couple of magazines, enjoyed the sun and the cool breeze.

Came back to my place at 3 and made a few phone calls--after not bothering with doctors for 2 months (except my once a month blood work--setting up appointments with my primary, my vascular surgeon, my rhemotologist, urologist, etc.

Then a shave and shower--reading and answering more e-mail--taking my official weigh in--184.25--little by little getting back to the weight I was before Terry & Chuck came down--got dressed and went to meet Bob & Betsy for dinner at Big Louie's which was my last restaurant job.

It was great seeing Bob and Betsy--haven't seen then in awhile--they live in Michigan--get down here every once in awhile--fun, nice people.

I had a salad with blue cheese dressing, sausage & peppers on linguine (I finished mine, Bob couldn't finish his) and garlic rolls (probably too many!)

Kudos for me--I WALKED TO THE RESTAURANT AND BACK--okay, so it's only 6 blocks each way, BUT I walked! AND I didn't have dessert! (WOW!)

Came home, gave the birds their romaine lettuce and corn wheels treats.

Watched "Prison Break" waiting for "dancing With The Stars" to start, (Skipping Bush's 'talk' which I am sure will be political instead of just talking about 9/11) and got on Internet to read a few blogs, visit some sites (UAS, ACL, etc.) and now writing my blog for the day.

The rest of the evening? Giving the birds their 10 PM treat, catching up on a few magazines, watching TV, having a few 'correct' snacks, reading a book and then to bed.

This being retired is time consuming--guess I'll just have to put up with it!

buddy, you try to cram too much into a day. You're going to single-handedly give the impresion to the young folks out there that being retired is just busy busy busy with no time for relaxing and enjoying life.

What drives me crazy are the retired people who say they are bored![LOL]

Sounds nice Martin. Wish I had such relaxing days. Like Prison break? I just have 3 episodes left from season 2, will finish them this week and the 3 to go about the new season. Dancing with the stars is the original UK format? Its been here as well, but just saw a few. Here dancing on ice (similar just with skating) is a big hit now. BTW here "House" started, nice serial i must say. [KISS]

Dancing With The Stars is a fun show--don't know what the format is in your part of the world but here it is a (has-been) celebrity dancing with a pro--I love to watch dancing shows.
They did an ice skating show last season--don't know if it will be on again--there is something to be said about those costumes![LOL]
