Four years ago this month I had no choice but to stop driving the 1973 Chevy convertible that I had bought in 1981 and drove, and pampered, for the next 23 years. My insurance rates had gone sky high--your credit score is involved in deciding rates and I had declared bankruptcy in the 90s. I never did understand why credit ratings were involved as I always paid my premiums on time. Along with the increase in insurance, gas prices were rising and I needed a lot of repair work done.
It was very difficult getting use to not having a car but with public transportation and friends like Allen, Gino. Larry and Emily I managed very well.
I still miss my red car, driving along with the top down, feeling the sun and wind--as the saying goes, "The only time the top went up was when it was snowing!"

That's one fine looking car. I know a lot of people who love to get their hands on a car like that.
What a beautiful Baby. I am so sorry. my heart goes out to you!
Awesome car! There is nothing like driving a convertible. I drive a BMW Z4 convertible. I hate to think about the time when I will have to give up by drivers license because of my age; it takes away all of your independence.
I didn't/don't have to give up driving because of age and I know plenty of people in their 70s and 80s who are stillexcellent drivers--in any case by the time YOU are old cars will be running on automatic--all you will have to do is program where you want to go, lean back watch a movie and the car will take you there!!!
Snowing ??????????????????????
Oh pleazzzze!! By the time I get old....LOL. Sugar, you are only four years older than me and I'm catching up fast!!! Who wants a car that will drive for you? That takes all the fun out of it. :-)
Trust me--at our age 4 years is a BIG difference!!!
Its not the first time you write about it. I assume you still miss it a lot!
Not so much the convenience of a car though I do miss that but I do miss THAT particular car
The car was a beauty.
I did not realize that our credit ratings affected our auto insurance rates.

Each State is different--I know it does in Florida.
