It has taken me 72 years to finally find out why people have wives, husbands, spouses, partners, companions, roommates or whatever you call them--it is so much easier to have someone run around and do the million and one items you have to do before you go into the hospital!! :O)

I am trying to treat going into the hospital for open heart surgery as a vacation, a change in my regula life and routine, and there are so many details to attend to before I leave on my trip!
Today Gino and I brought my birds over to Jill. I promised her I wouldn't call or e-mail every 5 minutes between now and Sunday!
Tomorrow I am taking a break from all this--will go to see "Mamma Mia" and just relax with Allen, Gino and John then come home and write/postr my review.
On Saturday I have to:
Cancel newspaper subscription
Pay my August rent/ cable, phone and credit card biils
Make arrangements for the 15 frozen dinners I get delivered every month
Make arrangements for Allen and/or Gino to pick up Thursday food deliveries
Unsubscribe all my blog subscriptions so that my e-mail box isn't inundated and filled up in 2-3 days
E-mail everyone NOT to email me until I am back and ready to answer
Make sure all windows are open, blinds are up and a/c are turned on
Charge the batteries on my camera--if possible I want to have a picture taken of me when I am first out of surgery :O)
Explain lotto tickets to Allen
Prepare clothes, sundries, etc., as I don't know what I will need/want in rehab and tell Gino/Allen what to bring when I need whatever
Empty fridge
Since I will be in hospital all day Sunday bring a book or two and pack a small bag
Bring X-ray with me
Unplug answering machine/computer/TV
Give Dolores a key to my place, and money, so she can clean a couple of times while I am away
Show Allen/Gino where I keep my cigarettes--hey, no guarantee I'll stop smoking after operation---a few dollars--my ring (I was told not to bring anything valuable with me)--my checkbook, etc.
Write last blog.
WHEW!!!! And I am sure I am forgetting a few things.
Where is THAT spouse, husband, wife, companion, better half, roommate, partner, etc. when you need them?!?!?

best wishes to you for a speedy recovery!!
my thoughts are with you!!
Martin, you are a gem. And I will be waiting to hear from you when you get back online. You will do fine, may not feel the best at first, but as I have said to you before, I have seen lots of these procedures done, and expect yours to go well. I will be wondering about you every day you are there...
Hi Greatmartin! The blogster team would like to wish you luck at your surgery and we hope everything goes smoothly. Best wishes and God bless you.
