Weighing the advantages of being young(er) or old(er) I would take being old(er) anytime--hey, being retired and out of the work force and some of the people you have to work with, if nothing else, tips the scale towards old(er)!!! LOL
There are a couple of things though that you aren't warned about in advance (I'll blog about the others another day) but one of the main things is the amount of time you will spend/waste in doctor's offices!
Today I spent about an hour arranging doctor appointments and rides to and from their office--all covered by my HMO.
Being organized (or is that anal retentive??? LOL) I always set up my appointments for Mondays and Tuesdays at 2 PM---down here the whole medical profession goes to lunch 1-2 PM!!--and I know I will be first afternoon appointment and not have to wait too long.
I set up November as my 'health preventive' month and made the following appointments:
Monday the 5th My primary
Monday the 12th Hematologist
Tuesday the 13th Urologist
Monday the 19th Podiatrist
Tuesday the 20th Dermatologist
Monday the 26th Ophthalmologist
That leaves the 6th and 27th for the vascular surgeon and cardiologist.
I'll either go into 2008 VERY healthy or follow up appointments--hopefully the former. What's funny is that when I was young(er) I didn't know there were so many specialists--of course back in the ancient days our general family doctor did all of it!!!!!
If you think you'll have nothing to do when you retire forget about it!! LOL
