2 Turkeys Make a Turkey Out of Me!

December 26, 2006 / by greatmartin

For many years I have roasted a turkey (each time a different dressing) with all the trimmings--yams, corn, gravy, cranberry sauce, a cake and a pie, salad, etc.,--and shared it with my neighbors, the security guards, friends who didn't have family and so on each Thanksgiving and Christmas.

This Thanksgiving I bought and defrosted the turkey, stuffed it and was about to put it in the oven when I looked at at the price tag to see how much it weighed to time how long I should keep it in the oven--I noticed the 'sell by' date stamped on it was April, 2006!!!! Okay, my stomach can take anything but did I really want to make everyone else sick??? Try to find a defrosted turkey Thanksgiving Day--forget it! Instead of turkey with all the trimmings they got all the trimmings with a double cheese omelet!

Then came Christmas Day--same routine--after putting the turkey in the oven I went to see Dreamgirls as it would take 4 hours for the turkey to be cooked--came home and was checking on the turkey when it slid off the roasting pan--no, didn't land on the floor--instead it slid back and landed on the oven floor on the electric burners--I now have an encrusted oven floor where the stuffing and yams burned and the smoke came pouring out from burned food--all I was concerned with was with the birds as the smoke could kill them--luckily when I opened the window the smoke went out of it instead of into the apartment. The turkey did survive and tasted real good--smoked!!! LOL

Now the day after: my friend George downstairs finally succumbed and gave up the fight and died.

Santa didn't even stop at my place and Blogster ED didn't fill my requests.

It is a gray and rainy day with temperatures predicted to go down to 54 degrees tonight.

And then a knock on the door--I GOT A SUMMONS TO APPEAR IN COURT!!!!

I'm going to sleep and waking up to a much better day tomorrow!

A credit card company from 2002 turned the account over to a collection agency--as I explained to them I have been declared 'judgement proof' (in other words I ain't got nothing worth anything!) but I guess they want to get a judgement against me in case I win the lottery![LOL What I love is that the original charges are about $5,000 and they have added $6,000 interest
